[ a bit later in the day, the curiosity of all the new places and need to check on everyone... is, unfortunately, getting out beat by that drawn urge to find one person in particular.
so, when Setsu finally finds Jonas, they're just hurrying a bit over and, well, meeting him with an immediate hug to bury a little. yes, hello. there's a befuddled expression because how is it that they're already feeling so drained..?? ]

anyway. the thing about it is that jonas is pretty good at ignoring when he feels bad which makes this super unfortunate. he figures it's sort of a same shit different day kind of deal, and it's why he's pushing away whatever emotions he doesn't feel like sorting.
eventually he sort of puts together that he's thinking about one person in particular, even if he doesn't entirely connect that the two things are related. that's what makes it a little confusing when setsu suddenly appears and barrels into him. there's a startled noise with the hug, hand coming up to steady them as they blink a little. ]
...well, I haven't seen you since this morning? We've all been kind of close over the last couple of days. [ he thinks, not thinking that's such a weird thing for them to observe and not lifting his arm off of them yet. ]
[ assigns them as in the warehouse. they are probably done moving the fish statue and practicing, and alex and kazuki are out doing who knows what. jonas is sitting on the couch flipping through his phone though when he glances at them. ]
...hey, Setsu. Did you see the updated rulebook earlier?
[ off to their red string partners perhaps... as they should be. Setsu seems to be messing with the cuff of their sleeves, wearing something new for a change with their hair tied back a bit. ]
Hm? Oh, yes, I did. Have you gotten to telling your secret to someone yet?
[ they'll come to join him on the couch after, leaning a little close as they pull their own phone out to glance at and doublecheck. ]
[ fortunately not long after the healing happen, they poofed back to their normal size and appearance! so, that's... good. but, it's only a max healing from one person and quite frankly i have no idea what that means for their eye. me assuming it's still gone so Setsu has finished wrapping some makeshift bandages to cover the area of their right eye.
though, they have probably been pretty skittish since they've come back, fearful, almost as if every ounce of that bravery that has pushed them forward up until now is.. gone. because of it, they stay close to Jonas and even carefully reach for him again. ]
..I.. I don't know how to explain what happened. I remember it all now... but it's.. [ they drop their forehead against his shoulder as their hands gently take hold of some of his hoodie. they sound still a bit dazed. ]
..I saw you die. Because I got distracted- you died. [ because of me, you died. ] It's hard to.. wrap my mind that you're still here.
[ it's hard to say what all happened with all the hubabaloo of the return and the healing, but once everyone disperses he lets them hang over him and he decides the answer is to pick them up. no walking.
he hears that, though, and he frowns in thought. ]
Well...I am definitely still here as far as I know. That part hasn't changed. [ glancing at their hands on his hoodie. ] Feels real, doesn't it?
[ he should maybe go inside but also he does not want to yet. it means he's sitting against the side of the tbd warehouse with a lit cigarette, staring into the distance and also frowning in thought.
when setsu appears in his line of vision though, he does at least look up at them with a slight sigh. ]
[ i can't believe spoon gave me good cr and took it away. in any case, Setsu is approaching from further down the way, since after they woke up they had been wandering aimlessly, looking for... anything. something. they didn't have that same urge as last week, so they just wandered until something came up.
and, well, now they're back here. there's a dazed look in their eye, with a bit of a torn expression, though it settles a little when they see him. ]

[ it's hard losing someone they've come to care about, even a little. Setsu knows what will come off getting even a bit attached to any of the people here. but they aren't entirely heartless to avoid that. it'll happen, has happened before, and they will come to lose them- that much is inevitable. but... it still hurts a lot, especially because all Setsu can think of is how they've failed yet again. ]
[after everything, Setsu is around at the lake... they're focusing intently on the water, distracted by their thoughts. when they catch sight of Jonas though they feel that familiar tug, they emit a quiet sigh]
[ anyway. that was a mess in a whole other way, which means jonas is wandering around outside just to regather his thoughts and not really with a destination in mind. and it means he's falling into step with setsu pretty easily. ]

but the pig falls from the sky and triggers a memory, and...when it fades, he's dead silent. he's silent and he's still and he's just busy dealing with this ringing in his ears, the kind that tells him to seize up and lock down all of his thoughts and emotions before everything overwhelms him. he can feel the way his throat starts to close a little while the gravity of the situation sinks in, and he can tell his hands are a little shaky where they're jammed in his pockets.
and all he can think is "why them? why does this keep happening to people?"
